چکیده

Dichotomous responses from matched pairs of data at different timepoints are often displayed in 2 by 2 tables, and McNemar's test is performed to test the hypothesis that the proportion of subjects with a certain response is equivalent at both timepoints. A kappa statistic can determine the level of agreement in these responses. The SAS procedure FREQ can perform a large sample approximation to McNemar's test when the number of discordant matched pairs is large (n > 20). The CMHI option in FREQ is used since McNemar's test is a special case of the Cochran-ManteI-Haensze1 statistic. In SAS Version 6.11, McNemar's test can also be performed using the new option AGREE in FREQ. If the number of discordant matched pairs is small (n ~ 20), the SAS procedure UNIVARIATE will perform an exact McNemar's test. An example is presented performing McNemar's test using the procedure UNIVARIATE. McNemar's test is performed to determine whether the proportion of patients considered to be eradicated of H.py/ori infection is equivalent at two different timepoints. An algorithm and SAS code for calculating a kappa statistic and 95% confidence interval were developed and will be presented.

Generalized McNemar’s Test for Homogeneity of the Marginal Distributions

In the matched-pairs data, McNemar’s test (McNemar, 1947) can be applied only to the case in which there are two possible categories for the outcome. In practice, however, it is possible that the outcomes are classified into multiple categories. Under this situation, the test statistic proposed by Stuart (1955) and Maxwell (1970) is useful, it is actually the generalization of the McNemar’s tes...

The McNemar test for binary matched-pairs data: mid-p and asymptotic are better than exact conditional

BACKGROUND Statistical methods that use the mid-p approach are useful tools to analyze categorical data, particularly for small and moderate sample sizes. Mid-p tests strike a balance between overly conservative exact methods and asymptotic methods that frequently violate the nominal level. Here, we examine a mid-p version of the McNemar exact conditional test for the analysis of paired binomia...

Analysis of Ordered Categorical Data Using the Sas® System

In this talk we describe a method for combining a measure of association from several 2xC contingency tables. The columns in the 2xC tables are assumed to be ordered and the method uses the weighted least squares methodology of Grizzle, Starmer and Koch (1969). The method uses a transformation of the gamma statistic, a statistic proposed for the analysis of ordered contingency tables by Goodman...

An Improved Auto-Generation System to Obtain Reference Intervals for Laboratory Medicine

OBJECTIVES Reference values are highly required parameters for all tests in the clinical laboratory, and the supplementary provision of reliable reference intervals is an important task for both clinical laboratories and diagnostic test manufacturers. Despite the progress that has been made in the conceptual aspects of reference intervals, in practice their use is still not completely satisfact...
